Welcome to Oaks, the Reception year at St Francis School.

In Reception, known as Oaks, the EYFS Curriculum, ‘Development Matters’, is delivered by Class Teachers Mrs Rachel Ashman and Mrs Mandy Pilgrim, supported by Mrs Mel Theobald and Mrs Claire Plank (full-time Teaching Assistants). Specialist teachers deliver French (Madame Woodard), PE (Mrs Belsey) and Music (Mrs Griffiths) each week.

Pupils in Reception arrive in their classroom between 8.30am and 8.45am, accompanied by a parent/carer, choosing to engage in a range of activities before registration at 9.00am. An ‘open door’ approach is encouraged, as it is in the whole school, but particularly so in Reception.  By bringing their child(ren) into the classroom every morning parents/carers are free to talk to the class teacher with regard to any matters.  If further time is needed to discuss a matter a mutually agreed time is made to do so. Similarly, there is a chance for conversation at the end of the school day.  Reception children are collected from the Haybrook courtyard at 3.35pm.

Parents with Reception-aged children have access to extended day provision in the form of Before-School Care Club (7.45-8.30am) and After-School Care Club (3.35-6.00pm).
