Happy 75th Birthday St Francis!
Pupils and Staff kicked off the St Francis 75th Anniversary Year with a 1940’s style dress up day last Friday.
St Francis was founded in September 1941 with just 4 pupils. To mark this important anniversary the St Francis School Community will be celebrating throughout the whole of this academic year with a programme of events.
The 1940s day included air raid sirens during class, taped windows, black and white class photos, hopscotch, a 1940s lunch menu in the Dining Hall as well as a visit from Chris Lloyd, historian and author. Mr Lloyd ran sessions for different age groups, through the day on world history and included key events in the school’s history.
At the end of the day children and staff sang Happy Birthday and shared a cake with 75 candles. Headmaster David Sibson, unveiled a specially commissioned anniversary painting by artist Ivel Muller showing St Francis in action in 2016.
