St Francis Goes Outdoors for Outdoor Classroom Day

Pupils at  St Francis donned their wellies and waterproofs and headed outside for Outdoor Classroom Day!

The School is fortunate enough to have a Forest School onsite, with members of staff trained as Forest School leader, and having recently achieved their Platinum Award with the Woodland Trust the pupils already spend a lot of time learning outside.

For Outdoor Classroom Day the Pre-Prep pupils at St Francis decamped to the Haybrook Forest for to make some flower crowns, dig finger holes (discovering lots of creepy crawlies in the process) and make Diwali Decorations.

Forest School Leader, Felicity Couse said “We recognise how lucky our pupils are to have these resources onsite, but on days like Outdoor Classroom Day we try to impress upon the pupils the benefits of learning in nature. We all really enjoyed having an excuse to spend more time outside, even if it did mean being bundled up in scarves and gloves – we’re a hardy lot!”
