Swimming Success for St Francis

Pupils from Pewsey-based Prep School, St Francis are celebrating a watery success this week!
Members of the swim squad took part in the recent IAPS Wiltshire swimming qualifiers, with great success!
Mrs Belsey, Swim Squad Coach explained “I am incredibly proud of the swim squad members who attended the IAPS qualifiers in March. The pupils conducted themselves brilliantly, and showed a real effort to do well for themselves, the squad and the School. We achieved some fantastic results as well, for which they should be incredibly proud!”.
A special mention must go to Year 6 pupil Sophie, and Year 8 pupil Luke, who both qualified to attend the Nationals in the London Aquatic Centre next month. Luke swam the 50m Backstroke and came 10th out of 69 competitors, whilst Sophie qualified in the 50m Freestyle category, coming an incredibly impressive 9th out of 162 entries.
Kevan Brown, Director of Sport at St Francis explained “The swim squad is an incredibly hard-working and dedicated team, who swim all year round. Lots of our pupils also represent their swimming clubs outside School, as well as representing us so ably. Sophie and Luke have absolutely excelled themselves; they’ve also qualified with their club to swim in the championship, in addition to this IAPS Nationals success. I have no doubt that we are witnessing the start of some very special swimming careers!”
