Friday Messages from the Headmaster – 9 October 2020

Dear Parents

We continue to embrace the opportunities for greater use of digital technology to build on the lessons learned during lock down and remote learning, and also to operate as normally as possible. This week we have successfully carried out our first online, socially-distanced, virtual Parent Consultation meetings with parents in Pre-Prep and Year 3, using Google Meet.  We look forward to the Year 6 Parent Teacher consultations taking place next week.

Next week is Week 7

Tuesday 13 October

  • Year 6 Parent Consultations with Form Tutor on Google Meet (by appointment 4.30-6.30pm)
  • Archery Club starts

Wednesday 14 October

  • Year 6 Parent Consultations with Form Tutor on Google Meet (by appointment 4.30-6.30pm)

Half Term Holiday Camp

On the back of the success of the launch of our Holiday Camp for St Francis pupils in the summer, we are delighted to be offering the opportunity again in the first week of the half term holiday for pupils in Reception to Year 6. Places will be limited so early booking is advised to secure a place. More information is in the attachment to these messages.

Sport in the COVID-19 School Environment

Mr Brown (Director of Sport) writes: Competitive sports fixtures against other schools have been stopped for the foreseeable future and we will monitor government guidance for any changes. However, within school we are maintaining that experience for the children through internal mini tournaments in football, hockey, (rugby if NGB guidance allows) and cross-country. The children will also have the Inter-House sports competitions to look forward to participating in. The extra time saved by not playing fixtures has provided an opportunity to focus on skills and as we progress through the term we will be introducing some new sports such as hand ball and basketball. In addition to this the girls will also get to play some football. All the sports are inclusive, so all the children, whatever their ability will participate and gain much enjoyment from their involvement.
